Description: Biology is the study of all living things. It is an investigation-oriented course which emphasizes cell structure and function, mechanisms of genetics, biological evolution and classification, biological processes and systems, and interdependence within environmental systems. Measurement, data collection, and prediction of experimental outcomes will be stressed. Students will be expected to manipulate experimental procedures and apparatus, make accurate observations, collect and analyze data, and summarize results in an organized and safe manner.

Homework: Students can expect to spend 1-3 hours per week studying and note taking. There are 2 exams – midterm and final, regular quizzes, and homework.

Description: Spanish 1 is designed for students who have little or no experience with Spanish. We will cover the vocabulary and structures that are used most often and those that my students most want to learn. We will learn proper pronunciation, present tense verbs, pronouns, definite and indefinite articles, and gender agreement. We will also enjoy some of the culture of several Spanish-speaking countries. This is a highly interactive class.

Description: This class fulfills the speech credit required for high school. Equally important, it prepares students for those many situations in careers, community service, college courses, and even high school classes where they will be expected to speak in front of people.
This class is an introductory course designed to acquaint the student with basic principles of public speaking concentrating on content, organization, audience motivation, language, and delivery. Students will also learn techniques for managing communication anxiety.

Homework: Students can expect to spend 1-2 hour per week.

Description: Robots with the Coding Lab is a hands-on, lab-based course that introduces the basic concepts of coding with the application of the coding concepts covered including light sequences, talking robot, manual control, automated control, sensing orientation, dancing robot, and creative robot programs.
Students focus on the fundamentals of coding beginning with the concepts of a command, an algorithm, and a program. They will then learn about the concept of program design. Specifically, students will delve into the development, planning draw sequences, and debugging program designs, Students will delve into the concepts of conditional logic in coding, including the generic If block, the logical OR, the logical AND, the logical NOT, and the debugging of conditional logic. The course will culminate with the student manipulating their Cellus BOT, by empowering them to apply the concepts they have previously mastered in a whole new way. Concepts covered include light sequences, talking robot, manual control, automated control, sensing orientation, dancing robot, and creative robot programs.
